Los Angeles, CA – June 30, 2018 – Raquel Baldelomar, founder and president of Quaintise, a marketing, branding and advertising agency centered in the health and wellness sector, served as a speaker at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado.
She moderated the panel, Tech Smart Cities – A New World on the Horizon, on June 27th. The panel was comprised of Chris Womack, executive vice president and president of external affairs for Southern Company, one of America’s largest energy providers and George Karayannis, vice president of the CityNOW project at Panasonic North America, a Smart City plan in Denver, Colorado.
The panel discussed what the future could look like in a world full of smart technologies and connected devices in homes, neighborhoods and cities. It examined Denver CityNow, a carbon-neutral smart district being built by Panasonic that should be complete by 2026. The project has already installed free WiFi, smart street lights, pollution sensors, a solar-powered microgrid and security cameras. Panasonic also hopes to deploy a system called RoadX, which would be the first U.S. vehicle system in which real-time data is shared across vehicles to improve safety, lower fuel consumption and reduce congestion. The panel also discussed Smart Neighborhoods in Atlanta and Birmingham, AL. The homes include features like rooftop solar installations, in-home battery storage and smart security alarms, thermostats, lights, locks and garage doors, as well as, interconnected appliances.
